Eason Painting did not start with money or a master plan. It started in 1998 with $1,500, a used van, and one very supportive sister. Twenty-eight years later we are still family-run, and still treating every home like our first customer's.
Two brothers and a trade
Kevin Eason learned painting the hard way and the right way: as a laborer under his older brother Chuck Walters, a painting foreman who checked every task and pushed him to be better. Kevin fell in love with the work. When the company they worked for kept breaking promises, Kevin bet on himself: he quit, bought a van with his last $1,500, and started Eason Painting.
The bet paid off. Referrals stacked up, Chuck joined as partner, and the little company grew into a second-generation family business with its own drywall crew, carpentry capability and a Pre-Finishing shop that turns out factory-quality finishes. Through booms and the toughest recession in memory, the thing that carried Eason Painting was always the same: repeat customers and their referrals.
That is why our goal has never been to be the biggest painting company in Metro Detroit. It is to create customers for life, with safety as our number one priority and quality we are willing to put in writing, with a 6-year warranty on every job.
1998 to today
- 1998
Eason Painting is born
Kevin Eason leaves a dead-end painting job with $1,500 in his pocket, buys a not-so-nice van and some tools, and starts the company with his friend Jason. First customer: Kevin's sister Dawn, who tells all her friends.
- 2002
The barn years
Operations move from Kevin's house to a custom-built barn. Fire and water damage restoration and a full drywall crew join the services, and Kevin's brother Chuck Walters comes on full-time as business partner. Soon there are 6 trucks on the road and 15 full-time painters.
- 2007
First commercial building
A strong, established crew and a growing reputation move Eason Painting into its first commercial building.
- 2010
Home on Hall Road
The shop moves to its current headquarters at 20502 Hall Rd in Clinton Township, where it remains today.
- 2014
The Pre-Finishing department opens
Eason acquires a small painting business and opens a dedicated Pre-Finishing shop, led by Chuck, producing spray and hand-applied finishes on windows, doors, casing, moldings and cabinets.
- 2018
A new mark for old values
The roller logo arrives: a brand chosen to reflect the company's commitment to quality and the values it was built on.

More than 25 years in, still family-run by Kevin and Chuck, still growing every year the same way it started: referrals from customers who got exactly what they were promised.
